Selby United Charities (SUC) manages a number of ancient charities within the town and parish of Selby. Our mission is to provide support and assistance to individuals in need.
We provide safe and affordable housing for vulnerable individuals who are in need of support.
After payment of expenses, the income of the charity is used in offering financial aid and grants to individuals and families resident in Selby district facing financial hardship.
Various assets are used to generate income to enable the furtherance of the charities objectives
In 1917, the Charity Commission listed several charities under the name of Selby United Charities. These charities were founded by James Audus, John Edmonds, Robert Hudson, Thomas Procter, Charles Weddall, and Joshua Rayner. Over the years, these charities have been merged and amalgamated into the Selby Almshouses and Poor's Charity as well as the Selby Feoffee and Welfare Charity. Today, we continue to uphold the legacy of these charitable organizations and provide support to the local community.
